Larissa Anderson (nee Cavanagh) appointed Head Coach of SEABL Schweppes Rangers women for season 2010
The Dandenong Basketball Association is delighted to announce that Larissa Anderson (formerly Cavanagh), the former Boomers and Rangers WNBL player and SEABL Head Coach of 4 seasons with Nunawading, has been appointed Head Coach of the SEABL Schweppes Rangers championship women for season 2010.
Newly appointed Basketball Operations Manager of the Dandenong Basketball Association, Leigh Gooding, said, "As with the applications for the men’s Head Coach position these applications were outstanding too and for Larissa to be named Head Coach is testament to her experience as an elite player, coach and her passion for this role is unquestionable".
Larissa’s long list of credentials reads like a who’s who of basketball; 10 years playing for the WNBL Bulleen Boomers (2 as Captain), 3 seasons playing for the WNBL Dandenong Jayco Rangers (’95,‘06-’07 & ’07-’08) along with Assistant Coach in 07-08; Head Coach of the Nunawading SEABL Women’s team 2004 – 2007 and in her first year of coaching in 2004, Larissa was awarded SEABL Women’s Coach of the year & Victorian Female Coach of the year!
“Add to this the fact that Larissa is coming back to Dandenong, this appointment really is a coup for the DBA. Larissa is a well respected former Ranger who the junior rep players still look up to and remember as a sharp shooting, competitively aggressive forward and to have her back is just such a great win for the Association,” said Partnership & Media Manager, Deb Weston.
The association looks forward to working closely with Larissa and wishes the women’s team every success for its campaign in season 2010.
