Big Tone Back For 2013
The Dandenong Solo Rangers have secured the signature of athletic American import player Tony Lewis for the 2013 South East Australian Basketball League season. Lewis has set the league on fire in 2012, his first year in the SEABL competition with averages of 19.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest.
The Chicago native was genuinely excited about extending his stay with Dandenong, “This season has been successful so far, hopefully our good form continues into the finals and we have something to defend next year. I enjoy being here in Australia and playing for the Rangers, I’m just taking it all in and thankful for the opportunity.”
Lewis’ re-signing ensures that SEABL’s most exciting import pairing will be back in the Rangers uniform in 2013, following Daequon Montreal’s extension a fortnight ago. The dynamic duo forms a difficult combination for opposition teams to match up on with their mix of athleticism and excellent basketball IQ.
With a year of SEABL experience under his belt, Lewis promises to be even better prepared in 2013. “Working out on my own back home, I now know what I need to work on to strengthen my game to help the team,” Lewis said when discussing his off season plans.
Dandenong Basketball Operations Manager; Leigh Gooding, was very pleased to have both import players back in Rangers uniforms for 2013. “The most pleasing part of resigning both Tony & Daequon is they are great people, easy going guys, professionals and fit into our club seamlessly. Tony brings a dynamic and explosive style of play to our league, so this is great news to have both guys already committed for another season”.
The Rangers face a home/away double to round out regular season play this weekend against Ballarat and Bendigo, needing to win at least one game to lock in first position in the East Conference.
Finals dates, times and venues will be announced early next week.
